United Church of Primghar United Church of Primghar, Primghar, IA — fire damage

The United Church of Primghar, located in Primghar, IA, suffered a devastating fire. The Bell Choir Bells and a Nativity Scene were salvaged, but everything else was lost. Stained glass windows even needed to have framework redone and glass releaded.

Besides rebuilding the entire church, additional updates and improvements were made to upgrade the sewer system, to upgrade the lighting, sound and audiovisual systems, as well as installing a fire alarm system that will ring into the O'Brien County Community Center.

“We've been blessed with very conscientious workers, people who have cared about restoring our church,” stated Jack Black, one of the members of the rebuilding committee. “We've been very fortunate to have one contractor (L.J. Roth Restoration). The insurance company said that 'they sent us the best',” and Black is sure that that statement is true.

Speaking of L.J. Roth Restoration, Black also stated that the quickness of the job all goes back to the coordinators and and workers of the job. “You have to give that crew a lot of credit. Things were coordinated; when things needed to be done, the people were there.” Black wanted it known that the crew went above and beyond what was expected.

He hopes that no one ever has this happen to them, but if they do, they would be lucky to have a crew like L.J. Roth Restoration to put everything back together.

The WaterCourt The Watercourt, Westlake Village, CA — fire, water & smoke damage

The WaterCourt office complex was damaged by fire, smoke and water. A Thai restaurant on the first floor had a fire in the hood above the cooking area, which was initially put out by the staff. While the restaurant continued preparing food for the customers, the fire spread in to the exhaust system. No one was aware the fire was still burning in the walls, through a doctor's office and through the roof of the building.

Before anyone became aware of this continuing fire, extensive damage was done to the structure between the floors and to the roof structure. A fire fighting company was returning from another local fire call when they saw smoke coming from the roof and stopped to investigate.

Since the fire was hidden between the floors, the fire fighters had to cut out a large portion of the roof to fight the fire. Since the fire had burned hidden for some time, there was major structural damage. While repairing the damage, extensive changes had to be made to meed current codes.

“The prompt and effective response of your employees in our hour of need when hundreds of gallons of water were streaming from a broken galvanized pipe on to two stories of our home saved thousands of dollars worth of damage to persoal property, and, more than likely, the original structure of the home itself.

The equipment installed to draw out humidity and moisture from the interior of the many rooms affected by the puddles and pools of water worked efficiently and prevented mold from forming and growing. We strongly endorse the process you use to dry out a soggy mess caused by water running amuck.

The plastering, painting, woodworking, carpentry, and cleaning performed by your employees is all first-class. We have no complaints. All of the folks we came in contact with during the restoration process were helpful, caring, courteous, and skilled.

We heartily recommend your company to others who are in need of rapid response and restoration service. We feel fortunate that you answered our call in our time of need.”

After a fire destroyed much of its main building, Phelps, Inc. of Muscatine, Iowa, called on L.J. Roth Restoration to reconstruct its dry-cleaning and uniform service facility.

The damage was assessed, the site was secured, and the existing building was cleaned and restored, all without having to rebuild.

During the restoration, Phelps elected to have L.J. Roth Restoration strengthen a platform built for its cleaning process into a permanent part of the building's structure. The renovation added valuable, usable square footage without expanding the footprint of the building.
